Applicant Privacy Notice
Last Updated: 2026-10-10
This notice explains how your personal information is handled when you apply for a role through a Yappit AI sales assessment. It applies to everyone who applies through an application page on yappit.ai.
1. Who Is Responsible for Your Information
The organisation you are applying to, named at the top of the application page, is responsible for your information and for every decision about your application. Yappit AI ("Yappit", "we") runs the application and assessment on that organisation's behalf and processes your information only on its instructions.
2. What We Collect
- Application details: your name, email address, phone number, location, current role, years of sales experience, preferred contract type and languages.
- Screening answers: your answers to any questions the hiring organisation asks with your application.
- Warm-up answers: recordings of your spoken answers to the warm-up questions, and transcripts of them.
- Role-play call: a recording and transcript of your call with the AI customer.
- Assessment results: the grade, performance tier, scores and written feedback produced from your answers and call.
- Feedback about the process: your optional answers and comments when we ask how the application went.
- Technical information: your IP address, used for bot protection and to prevent abuse while you use the application and assessment pages.
3. How Your Information Is Used
- To process your application and run the assessment
- To assess your answers and call with AI, which produces a grade and feedback
- To share your results with the hiring organisation and email you a link to them
- To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse
How decisions are made. The AI assessment produces a grade and feedback only; it does not accept or reject you. A person at the hiring organisation reviews your results alongside your application and decides what happens next. If the organisation asks screening questions, it can choose answers that end an application automatically, for example not having the right to work in the country. If that happens to you, the organisation can still see your application and answers and can let you continue, and you can ask it to have a person review your application.
We rely on the consent you give when you submit your application, and on the hiring organisation's legitimate interest in assessing applicants.
4. Who Processes Your Information
Your information is available to authorised staff at the hiring organisation and to Yappit. We use these service providers to run the assessment:
- Supabase — Database (United Kingdom)
- DigitalOcean — Storage of recordings and transcripts (United Kingdom)
- ElevenLabs — AI voice for the role-play call, and transcription (United States)
- OpenAI — AI assessment of your answers and call (United States)
- Resend — Sending emails, including the link to your results (United States)
- Cloudflare — Bot protection when you start your application (Global)
- Vercel — Website hosting and visit analytics (United States)

We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
5. International Transfers
Your information is stored and processed outside South Africa, in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. We only use providers bound by written agreements that require them to protect your information to a standard comparable to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the UK GDPR.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep your information for as long as the hiring organisation needs it for its recruitment process. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time — see below.
7. Your Rights
Under POPIA (South Africa) and the GDPR / UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information held about you
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- Have your information deleted
- Object to how your information is processed
- Withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing that already happened, but it may mean your application cannot continue.
You can also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za, the Information Commissioner's Office (UK) at ico.org.uk, or your local data protection authority.
8. Contact Us
